At first I used my regular brand coffee that was already ground, a few grounds got thru, maybe 3-4 (that I noticed, LOL), I was pleased with that when it stated it needed course ground coffee. Next time I was at the grocery store I bought my usual brand and used the grounder there, on course, its been perfect every time! The only beef I have with it is that the plastic base that the handle is attached to allows the thermal glass to slide out somewhat easily when it is hot and it is tipped over for pouring or dumping out the grounds. This could cause the glass to break if it were to fall out onto a hard surface. Cleanup is as easy as a 5 second rinse on the plunger and another 5 second rinse on the glass part. ...more

This is far better than the glass press so I sent it back. I also bought a Pino Electric Variable Tempature Kettle with it and since there both real close to the same size, it makes this french press a breeze to get the water level correct for smaller brewing sizes.
